Make shapes through the heat above the buzzing streets of New York City at Manhattan’s first ever Bikram studio, Bode NYC.

Bode NYC, formerly known as Bikram Yoga NYC, has been leading hot yoga classes in New York City since 1999. Manhattan’s first ever Bikram Yoga studio has now expanded to offer a 75 and 60 minute express Bikram, hot HIIT, hot Vinyasa, Yin Nidra, Intermediate and traditional Bikram classes.

The Midtown location has 2 studios that run between 6 to 9 classes a day and offers clean and modern shower, locker and change room facilities.

CLASSIC 90
Traditional Bikram Yoga sequence of 26 Hatha Yoga postures + 2 breathing exercises.
CLASSIC 75
A 75 minute sequence of 26 Hatha Yoga postures + 2 breathing exercises.
CLASSIC 60 
Express 60 minute sequence of 26 Hatha Yoga postures + 2 breathing exercises.
HOT HIIT
High intensity interval training on a yoga mat in a heated studio.
HOT VINYASA
Barkan method Vinyasa flow in a heated studio.
YIN NIDRA
55 minutes of Yin Yoga followed by 20 minutes of Yoga Nidra in a warm studio (80-90F).
INTERMEDIATE
84 postures series from the Ghosh lineage, recommended for yogis with a strong Hatha Yoga foundation.

I visited the studio to practice a Classic 90 class on a casual pass one weekday afternoon. The class was busy and felt very “New York City”, even practicing some poses sideways to make room with the little space between us. The teacher was upbeat and friendly, offering a fun 90 minute Bikram class.

  1. I tried hot yoga once here in Sydney and nearly melted! That said, I love working out on holidays, we usually go for a run and if I’m staying somewhere for a reasonable time, I’ll join a gym and do some classes too. For me, it’s all part of the holiday fun!
