Home of the biggest and best schnitzels in Sydney, including a 100% vegan schnitzel!
Situated in the heart of Marrickville (a 10 minute walk from Marrickville train station), Goni’s claims to have Sydney’s best and undoubtedly the biggest schnitzels in town. Crowds that flock to the casual Inner West diner would confirm that as they walk out the door with doggy-bags in hand.
The small entryway that leads down to Goni’s is easy to miss along Marrickville Road. Keep an eye out for the white glass store front and probably guests nursing food babies as they leave.
Goni’s has a vegan option too! The homemade vegetarian schnitzel is made of a blend of gluten based dough, sun-dried tomatoes, eggplant, artichokes, oregano and olive oil. After asking which toppings could be made vegan I opted for a tomato, herb and olive topping.
I shared my schnitzel with a friend and there was enough leftover for lunches the next day (winning!). The schnitzel was tasty, especially with the olives on top, and there’s no denying it was filling. The giant schnitzel defeated us..this time.
My friends and I visited Goni’s on the night of my housewarming gathering and it’s safe to say that after we stumbled home not many snacks were needed!
