A Vegan’s Review of The Wedge Espresso, Glebe

The Wedge is officially my favourite cafe in Sydney…and that is a BIG call, considering my caffeine habit and love for good food. Besides the great food, coffee and friendly service, The Wedge ticks all of the boxes.

  • Right in the heart of Glebe, The Wedge is across the road from the ever popular Glebe Markets.
  • The atmosphere of the cozy, wedge shaped cafe is casual and relaxed – perfect for a pre/post market feed.
  • The team is so friendly and passionate about what they do. They were nice enough to explain to me how to recreate the Moroccan Salad dressing at home.
  • The coffee (Tight Rope, roasted by 5 Senses Coffee) is always perfectly crafted.
  • The food is what really keeps me coming back (and bringing everyone I know with me). The Modern Australian menu is simple yet so well executed with a mix of healthy and indulgent dishes.

It’s no wonder they were voted “Best Cafe in Sydney” by Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide.

The Moroccan Salad

Although I have a massive sweet tooth and almost always choose sweet over savoury the Moroccan Salad is my go-to at The Wedge. The pumpkin is always perfectly roasted, the salad is fresh and the dressing is to die for. I keep saying I’ll try the pancakes next time but always end up with the Moroccan Salad and coffee in front of me every visit.

  1. The Moroccan salad looks and sounds pretty great — I expect it would be my favorite, too. Isn’t it funny how we get stuck on one particular dish from a restaurant and keep ordering it every time we visit? I do the same, with a special dish for each cafe. If I were ever to visit Sydney again, I’d want to try the The Wedge!

  2. When I was in Australia I was really surprised (in a god way) by the number of vegetarian/vegan restaurants and the number of independent cafes! Where I live there just aren’t many coffee shops, not even chain ones, and finding a cafe-style meal is very difficult.
